Birdsong was inspired by Maya Angelou's question "Why does the caged bird sing?"

I imagined the flowing red dress like a bright red robin swinging on a perch. Her hands morph into the ropes of her swings as she acclimates to her enclosure; yet as she sings, the bars of her gilded cage melt away to reveal a universe of her own creation.
